Lee Ingleby was born in Burnley, Lancashire, in England. Mother Susan and father Gordon are both heavily involved in theater, so Lee has always been surrounded by the excitement of the dramatic arts. Sister Donna also acts on stage.
Lee attended Edge End High School, in Nelson, between the years 1987 - 1992, and still cites drama teacher Brian Wellock as one of the main influences and catalysts for his interest in acting. It was under the direction of Wellock in the high school play "Kes" that Lee discovered his passion for acting, and it was Wellock who told Lee that he had the potential to undertake acting as a career. Wellock, who also mentored Life on Mars' John Simm (also from the Burnley area) passed away in December of 2006.
After leaving high school, Lee decided to pursue his dream and enrolled in the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts course at Rawtenstall's Accrington and Rossendale College, between the years 1992 - 1994. He studied under the direction of Martin Cosgrif (the Performing Arts Lecturer), who he later stated was 'inspirational' during his time there. Lee and fellow students on the course toured the play "Teechers," by John Godber, to the Czech. Republic.
Following BTEC he auditioned for Drama School, winning a place at the prestigious London Academy of Musical and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) . There he undertook a three-year acting course under the main direction of Colin Cook, the head of the Acting Department there. As he was about to finish LAMDA, Lee auditioned for Soldier, Soldier and won the part of Kevin Fitzpatrick.
Lee has made numerous appearances in British television drama and comedy in recent years. These include a harrowing lead role as Sean O'Neill in Jimmy McGovern's The Street, and a recurring role in the second series of Early Doors as Mel's boyfriend, Dean. In addition, he played a significant part in the final episode of series one of Life on Mars, playing Sam Tyler's (John Simm's) father Vic, and made a memorable appearance in Spaced in 2001 (which was, along with Harry Potter, a rare occasion upon which he did not use his natural Northern accent, instead playing a Cockney)
In addition to his now-extensive film and television oeuvre, he has also guest-starred in a Doctor Who audio adventure, "Terror Firma." He has written a screenplay - "Cracks In The Ceiling" (2001) -- in which he appeared with his father, Gordon Ingleby. Lee also remains active on the stage, where his credits include such diverse characters as Puck in "Midsummer Night's Dream", Alexander in Nicholas Wright's "Cressida", and Katurian in Martin McDonagh's The "Pillowman."
In interviews, Lee admits to liking proto-rock bands The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Most frequent co-stars: Martin Shaw, Mark Gatiss, Joanne Frogatt, etc.

The release date of Hippie Hippie Shake is no longer even being mentioned. It obviously has some severe problems. It had its first test screening in December of 2009.
Rumours of Bash The Rich currently appear to be just that - rumours. Meanwhile, the HG Wells project, The First Men in the Moon appears to be a go.
